Day Flight Moths

There are many moths that either only have daytime activity or share their flight period between day and night.

Families such as Zygaenidae, Sessidae and Heterogynidae are exclusively active during the day. Two species of the Sphingidae family ( M. stellatarum and Hemaris fuciformis ) are also exclusively active during the day. The remaining species illustrated are both nocturnal and diurnal. In any case, it is always possible to find a moth flying during the day if its "sleep" has been disturbed by a predator or simply by our passing.
